i already have a garden path made from slabs but i want to make a new one over it useing gravel and new slabs what is the best way to do it

Make some sort of edging first then it should be quite easy to lay your gravel without it going all over. If you want to lay more slabs as well as gravel in between you will probably need some sand or something to level off before starting.
