are there any dog resistant garden shrubs ? My two male dogs insist on cocking their legs and have managed to kill most of mine, including Pieris and Hypericum

Lemon balm is a lovely smelling quite bushy herb - not technically a shrub but as well as surviving anything you can throw at it it requires hardly any attention and smells gorgeous (also you can dry the leaves and make a decoction which is fab for colds!)
Dog urine will kill any plant. Rinse with water immediately after they urinate if possible. Also try planting wormwood in front of where the dogs like to lift their legs. Dogs don't like the smell of wormwood. They are using your shrubs to mark their presence. Newt
