My kitchen walls are in need of urgent re-plastering.They are tatty with coats of paint,what is the best preparation to ensure the new coat of plaster will adhere well? Thanks

other alternative is to make sure the wall is level, fill in any holes, then stick 1/2" plaster board straight onto the wall ( glue it) .skim it over with a couple of mil thick plaster ( excuse the imperial / metric bit ) and you have a perfect wall., only fractionally larger than before., or, knock out the bad stuff and fll in the holes, sand it down until you are happy with it, and job done. wear a mask, and cover everything up.
