Hi, I am wanting to fit some additional locks to my garage to improve the secutity. Ideally I would like these to be discrete so am not looking at the big posts / defender units that you place outside of the door to prevent it from being opened. I am quite interesting in the bolts that fit either side (enfield / asec) and they say that they fit up and over metal garage doors. However, when i look at mine they appear to be operated by two large springs, one on each side that move up and down. I presume this is normal however surely these would then get in the way of the bolt when it is locked as these are meant to be fitted to the base of the doors.
Pacri bolts lock into the frame but do not go through the track. highly recommended for any canopy up and over door.
Pacri are the original and reliable, rather than Enfield style copies.
I secured mine by fitting 2 5-lever mortice locks into the wooden FRAME - one each side, at about 18 inches up. The locks stick out into the metal frame of the up and over door, into which I cut rectangular slots to accommodate the lock. It depends whether your door fits reasonably snugly against the sides of the frame.
