A friend is considering selling up and moving to france where property is supposedly cheaper that way he will be able to live mortgage free with a bit of cash in the bank. Sounds fabulous but i m sure there must be more pitfalls than not just being able to speak the language very well. Has anyone any experince of this and is it the ideal it appears?

Thing to note at the moment is that the French Government is clamping down on retirees access to state healthcare moving to France.

This doesn't affect anyone who's actually going to France to work, just those who have never worked in France.

So he'll have to make private provision for that.
being in france is a pitfall....if not just a pit?
