Your opinion on Aga's please!

I'm thinking of buying a house which is top end of my price range and comes with an Aga. I've never used one, but I'm a keen cook so would definitely be interested in finding out what people think of them.

The kitchen in the house is small, so I'm concerned about the constant heat that comes from Aga's. Also, we're vegetarians so won't ever be cooking meat in the Aga. Is there any point in keeping it? If not, is it an absolutely huge and expensive job to get rid of it?

Your thoughts would be very welcome!

Good for meat, bread and cakes. Bit of a waste of time for veg.
But unless it's a very old one, you should be able to sell it - and leave the cost of removal to the buyer.
How is it fuelled? If it's oil - it will be hugely expensive to run.

It's fuelled by gas.

Surely if it is fuelled by gas it is just a normal cooker, not needed to be left on all day?

I have wanted one for a while they are eminently practical things to have in the kitchen. Lots of folks have a wee summer cooker as well tho'.

Here is a link to an owners site this will be on the frequent questions page have a gander to see what owners say about them ...

an aga isnt just a cooker is it? im sure it fuels hot water and heating. but because you cant control them, its ideal to have a seperate standard cooker and boiler for summer months. i've also heard that they dont have a good heat range either and dont get hot enough to cook certain things with
