Keeping wasps out
5 Answers
How can I stop wasps coming into the house? I get bad allergic reactions to wasp stings. I have a one year old daughter and I worry that she will have the same type of reaction.

Teaching her to leave them alone and not be frightened of them will help, they generally don't sting for no reason. It might be worth having her tested for an allergic reaction, if it's potentially bad they can give you tablets to keep with her in case she gets stung
An old fasioned solution is to get a finished, but not washed out jar of jam, fill it half full of water and place it just outside the door/window where the wasps are coming in. The wasps are attracted to the jar, crawl inside and drown in the water, instead of coming into the house. It does actually work, it's what we do.
Thanks for the replies, Drewhound and molly. It's so warm here (Sweden) every summer and these wasps drive me crazy - more so than when I lived in Scotland. One problem is that they are a bit darker in colour, and when they do get inside I often think they are flies until they get up close when I can see and hear them properly. I would love to have proper screens but they are pricey. Molly, thanks for reminding me about the jars. That's what my Mum did when I was wee - and it worked too!
