Why is my Californian Lilac not doing anything. It is planted in the garden in composted soil. It has been there for 2 years and is just branches and no blooms at all. Its not dead as it is growing . Help!
They usually flower very easily and this is not a common problem that I have seen. What variety do you have? and are you doing anything to it during the year? Are you in Spain?
It could be that you are pruninng it at the wrong time and removing the flower buds.
It could be in Alkaline soil and they prefer neutal to slightly acidic.
agreed, a very easy to grow free flowering plant, likes to be in full sun and some support and protection from frost.
always trim it back just after flowering not before
