Home Emergency - or what??

We've had a disaster today - we're without water!! We're not on mains, but have our own bore-hole, which has worked perfectly for years. However, this afternoon, K.Jnr was having a shower and the water just stopped flowing. We checked the taps as well and - nothing!! I've phoned my Insurance Company (fortunately, I've got Home Emergency Cover) and am awaiting a call from a contractor. I think the pump to the bore-hole has packed up, but if anyone has any other ideas what it might be, I'd be grateful. I've checked the electrics and they're fine.
Problem is, without water, the livestock will suffer, I can't feed the dogs (they're on dried but I make a gravy to go with it), we can't wash (we stink!!) or even flush the loo and we've been gardening all day & are filthy!! Can't even make a cuppa, let alone cook supper. Oh, I'm just totally fed up!!!

Not sure what to suggest for the immediate solution but certainly in other countries they use rain water collected in containers to flush toilets with as it's clean and doesn't waste water.

You can also collect water in water butts and buy special UV lamps that kill any bacteria in it and can use that for showering.

Thanks for the suggestions, Cockney, but I've got it going again now (finally!). It was a mercury tilt switch that sends a signal to the pump & it had fallen out of its clip!! Stupid little thing, but caused no end of problems. We live in west Wales, up a mountain and have loads of rainwater, but even that didn't solve the problem of having a shower! My fiends at the neighbouring farm (well, two & a half miles away!) offered us to go round for a shower, but we just sat and ponged until we got it fixed! Nipped round, though & filled up a couple of water carriers so at least we got a cuppa when we woke up yesterday morning and I could water the animals as well. Fortunately, it wasn't the pump 'cos that would have been very expensive indeed!! Kxx
