Circuit Breakers

Hi, a question for any electrician-types out there. One of my circuit breakers has blown - the one for the downstairs lights - it's a CLIPSAL B6A TSB-106. Does anyone know where I can find one? Can I use any 6A circuit breaker as a replacement (a Merlin Gerin C60HB B6 6A for example). Lastly, how do you change them?? Thank you peeps.

Yes, I agree. Having done a bit of Googling this morning, I've come to the conclusion there's probably a problem with the ceiling light fitting I installed. I did it about a year ago but it was a fiddly job and I've never been overly confident with it - the rose was a lot smaller than the one I had in before and it was a struggle to 'cram' all the internal gubbins in! Think I should probably call in an electrician to check everything out...Cheers.

Hi Cheers Roaldo , think you are spot on, if it keeps tripping, it is not likey to be the breaker, turn all lights off at switches, then turn breaker on, then turn each light on in turn till it trips again, you have then found the faulty light. let us know how you get on, good luck, Ray

Hi Raysparx, the circuit breaker has only tripped the once and it will not go back on. I push it up and it flops straight back down - I'd have to physically hold it in place to make it stay on. The problem occurred when I switched both lights on using two dimmer switches that are side-by-side on the same panel. There was a bang and the breaker had tripped. I've tried all combinations of light switch settings and I still cannot get the circuit breaker to stay on. What is your diagnosis doctor Ray? Thanks!

Forcing MCBs on and messing with the wiring ...............oh no................we all want you to live..................please call in an electrician :o)

Please do as the Builder says, you must never try to force them, luckily that is impossible anyway. it could be that one of the dimmers has blown, , disconnect the dimmers,
tape up the wires (seperately) then try again, if the bang sounded as if it was from the ceiling, then the fault is on the light fitting or connection to the fitting, Ray
