Sonic repellents might help prevent them lodging in the first place, but won't help with an established infestation. Poison works, but you don't want to do that. Electric traps (B&Q) are excellent, but kill them.
For humane traps use a suitable bait - peanut butter, tuna. When you catch one, take it several *miles* away before releasing it, otherwise it will be back!
What you must do however, is pull out the washing machine, find the hole where they are getting in, and block it. Expanding foam is good for this. (I take it you are not too bothered about them living in your cellar? I wouldn't be. But not in the kitchen). If you can't find the hole, you can buy luminous dust which will show where they are running. They can get through very small crevices - if you can get a pencil in the hole, then a mouse can get through it.
Obviously keep your kitchen scupulously clean and free of food scraps, odd cardboard boxes on the floor, etc.
