When were concrete blocks first used in English house construction?

Not sure about the very first time, but Personally I've never seen anything but brick in (masonry) buildings older than about 1935. Before this lower-quality brick would have been used for places where it didn't matter too much, such as internal walls, inner leaves of cavity walls, outhouses etc. Do you mean concrete blocks proper, or the much lighter-weight breeze or ash blocks?
