Although I have hammer drills i use for drilling masonry but also have an impact driver, it has a screwdriver bit holder on the end. We hardly use it because its noisy but it puts screws through soft timbers and manifactured boards without pilot holes (easily for its size) by hammering the screw in as well as turning.
Another name for a hammer drill is a precussion drill I think. (to confuse you more)
If your buying a drill buy makita, Im a kitchen fitter and they last years being used all day atleast 4 times a week.
