If it is connected by a simple bayonet fitting (thick black tube to the copper pipe see here for a picture: http://www.toolstation.com/shop/Plumbing/GasFittings/d20/sd2 700 ) then you can simply remove it by unclipping it. If it is connected by only metal piping then you need a corgi registered chap to remove it for you.
