hydrangea and lavender

I cut back my hydrangea really hard as it had got too big.Consequently I did not get any blooms this year,will I get any next year?.
Also when do I cut my lavender back,now or in the autumn?

Hopefully your hydrangea will have flowers next year yes...don't cut your lavender hard just give it a light trim now.

i cut mine back hard every year and i always get flowers.re your lavender,take some tip cuttings if it's looking woody
