open the curtains? buy a candle? use a torch?
change the bulb
Indeed, it could be a wiring problem - but my bet would be that you have identified the wrong fuse, check again.

that makes sence. I'll open the door that might work. got few candles and a bottle of wine.
Sounds like you live in Zimbabwe. We have regualr 24hour power cuts
Is it a modern fuse box? Ours trips a circuit (either upstairs or downstairs) when a light bulb blows. It's a real pain when it's dark and you go in the eg living room, the light bulb blows and you're left in complete darkness!
but amazingly you have enough electricity run the computer? run an extension cord from the computer plug downstairs and plug in a lamp!

If you've chacked all the fuses/circuit breakers and still can't find the fault then you will have to do a bit of overtime at work to pay for a qualified sparks to come and look at it, electricity is dangerous you know....
check that none of your down stairs light bulbs have blown because if one of them has blown it will trip the curcuit breaker on the down stairs lighting ring.
Make sure everything downstairs is switched off then turn on the power and test each socket/light switch individually. We lost all our power downstairs and eventually found it was a ring on the cooker.
