old fireplace value

I am taking out an old (Victorian) fireplace, how can I find out if it is worth anything ?

Take a photo of it and go to an Architectural Reclamation company (you should be able to find one in the Yellow Pages).
Assuming it is cast-iron and undamaged (surface rust and paint aside), a reclaim yard will give you �20 for a decent one - better to put an ad in the papers or Ebay it and you could get upwards of �50 - those salvage yards are bandits.
you never know it might be an ADAMS fireplace,worth a few quid?
