turf & landscape fabric

I would like to re turf my lawn but to prevent weeds can i put down landscape fabric then top soil then turf.

If you are using turf you will never prevent weeds, as seeds will just naturally lodge in the grass and soil of the turf. Your best bet is to treat the area with a Pre Turfing weedkiller, which is granular and you spread it over the soil before turfing. We did this with our lawn and it was 2 or 3 years before dandelions and the like started to appear.
