I WANT TO PLANT PACHYASANDRA ON TOP OF MY SEPTIC SYSTEM. DO THE ROOTS STAY NEAR THE SURFACE OR DO THEY GO DEEP?

They are shallow rooted so it should be no problem at all. The only proviso is that nearly any shrub or tree will send it's roots into all that lovely compost if there is a crack available
