How do I strengthen loft joists so that I can board it out for storage?

You need to nail in braces between ajoining joists: 2" x 2" timbers fixed from the top of one joist to the bottom of the opposite one in pairs , to form a cross. These crosses to be about 2ft. apart. However, if your joists are really weak, you would need something more drastic, like replacing them, or running steel rsj's in between. Good luck.
