I have a window pole which measures 84" and I have bought a pair of curtains and each curtain is 112" wide.

The curtains weigh very heavy and I am taking them abroad. I am beginning to wonder if they are going to be too wide as I guess I should have bought 90" wide curtains. Does anyone know if the 112" curtains will be OK or whether I should get them altered before taking them abroad. The cost of having them altered abroad would be a lot more expensive than here in the UK.

Can't see a problem here, to be honest. I would think the 112" would be fine. xx

Hi nokno- how's it going? x
Nope can't see a problem either. it depends how much you like your curtains to "bunch" but the absolute minimum should be 1.5 times the length of the pole but most people prefer 2-3 times... which you fall nicely into.
For the very best drape your curtains should be 2.5 to 3 times the width of the curtain pole

That would be between 210" and 252" so your curtains at 224" are a perfect fit

I would be interested to know where you bought your curtains from - I am having difficulty finding them that wide.
You took the words right out of my mouth, Ethel! I thought 90" was the widest available width. Happy Christmas, btw xx

Just re-read my post and had to laugh as it does sound as if I am taking them on holiday (ha ha).

Thanks for all the replies. I have bought a property abroad and for some reason, curtains over there are extortionately priced. I was worried about getting the wrong size -because there are two sets of curtains and they weigh 7.5 kgs per pair, and I didn't fancy having to lug them all the way home again to have them altered.

For those who asked about where I bought them, it was from T J Hughes (Scunthorpe), but I assume they are nationwide. There is also an online store but they do not have the same ranges. The curtains are made by Rectella so perhaps you could find a Rectella stockists. The curtains I bought are 112" wide and 108" drop.

I think I panicked when I just read that for a 90" window pole you should get 90" wide curtains. Thanks again for putting my mind at rest.

Cheers
I will check out TJ Hughes. Thanks for that
