Hi I have an old ideal standard balanced flue central heating boiler and it has worked perfectly for years however just lately it is having trouble lighting up. When this happens just the act of taking off of the front cover or a gentle tap on the casing is enough to get the gas jets to ignite and it works fine heating all rads and supplying plenty of hot water.I have checked all electrical connections and all seem to be ok.Has anyone had a similar experience with this make of boiler. Thanks

jig the only anyone to have any experience with gas boilers are qualified corgi reg heating engineers, it is likely to be the thermo coupling that needs a boiler service hth Tez
are you saying that the pilot light is ok? (presuming it has a pilot light)
it could be a sticking gas valve but in any case as already said you need a heating engineer to service and repair the boiler if nees be.

pilot works fine so I don't think its a thermo couple issue however it may be as you say a gas valve problem so I will indeed be seeking professional help. Thanks
