What do you call it?
It is the bit on the top of the cistern you push to flush. It is round and in two halves - short and long flush.

No disrespect intended there, i hasten to add.
Also- don't you hate the fact that you can't open the lid on that type of cistern to put a little thingy in to turn the flush water a nice blue? xx

I recently fitted an ideal standard studio wc in my bathroom and managed to break the button push when fitting it.I rang ideal and couldn't believe it when they offered to send me a new unit which came in the post the next mornining...in fact they sent me 2!! all free of charge.
Look at the brand name of your toilet and phone them and say the same thing. Its worth a try even if you may have to pay.
In the meantime try just lifting off the lid and pushing the button normally operated by the push button until you can get a spare.

Ideal-Standard (just one manufacturer) call it a Pop Up Button Assembly Outlet Valve, which is a bit of a mouthful the morning after the night before. Try Googling that for your manufacturer.

This is a simple DIY job for a lady of your calibre. You get the old one out by pressing down one button, then you can lever the second button up.
