I need a new iron, and cant decide .........so many goods bad and uglies!!!! I bought a Bosch steam generator, but its not that good . I have a Phillips steam iron which is very old, and doesnt steam well any more. My ironing pile is mainly shirts and bedding. Would appreciate any ideas, any make, any price. Thank you so much.
I've gone through quite a few steam irons over the years, including some fairly expensive ones. However, I'm unemployed and hard up at the moment, so when I needed a new iron a few months ago I bought the cheapest I could find (with no great expectations as to its quality). It turned out to be the best iron I've ever had: lightweight, easy to fill and with well-distributed steam. What is it? A Tesco 'Value' steam iron, which costs around 4.
I agree Chris....I buy 5 at a time at Tescos 'cause my kids keep nicking mine. I do the same with the kettles @ under 5 'cause we have hard water and they soon burn out.
I've got a Tefal steam generator and it's great, would never go back to an ordinary steam iron. The only thing I would change is that mine doesn't have a removable tank so I have to let it cool down to refill it. I can get through a good pile of ironing without having to refill though.
Whatever you do always keep the receipt for a steam iron as you'll find that most of them will trip the RCD in your house, that's if you have them fitted, and then it will be easier to take it back and have a new one...
