Logs, etc. right up against our fence
4 Answers
Our neighbours have piled wet and fungus-covered logs right up against our solid wooden fence, also bricks. The logs are all touching our wooden fence and we believe will not do the fence any good and will probably make it rot. Can we ask them to move them so that they are not touching our fence? Very many thanks for your help.

You need to approach your neighbour in a friendly manner, try and explain the situation - possible rot in your fence, and if they agree, be effusively grateful. I know you are in the right, but issues like this can start wars of attrition that can go on for years, so you want to void getting into any arguments. Hopefully your neighbours will be reasonable. Good luck!
I don't think that you can enforce telling them what to do within the boundaries of their own property. Perhaps a polite suggestion/request is the best way forward. Alternatively wait until the fence panel has rotted (assuming it will do so before all the other panels) and contra-charge the neighbour for it's replacement!
I'm not sure this will completely answer your question, but take a look here.
