My electric oven is not working. The hob is fine and the grill works (it is in the top of the oven), but the oven is dead. Any engineers know whether this would be a pricey repair, or if it is likely to be something minor, pse?

Probably element blown...

Sometimes it's possible to see this because the element has physical signs of burning on it, sometimes the only way to know is to put a tester on it and see if it's open circuit.

if it's a fan oven the element will be behind the back plate (removable from inside the oven) surrounding the fan but you'll also need to remove the back of the oven to gain access to the connections for it.
OH and the last fan oven element I brought was about 30 but it depends on the make some are far more.

Gosh, that was quick. Thank you so much.
You need to call out a sparkie to check it for you, could be the element, could be a wire burnt out, could be the switch. or the thermostat Ray
repaired one last week, had to change the element and the fan, the fan was about 30, the element 20 and labour was 50

Thanks all for your answers. Will have to get someone in who knows what they are doing. At least it doesn't sound as expensive as I first thought!
