ink removal from carpet

Can anyone give me tips on how to remove felt tipped pen from a carpet (my 20 month old son thought the hall carpet was a blank canvas!!). Any help with removal of same pen from a painted wall would also be appreciated. Many thanks for any help.

I have always found the spray on protecter for shoes works on ink we use it at work on fabric shoes if they get a mark on them. Try a little on a discreet piece of carpet first. To remove the stain spray do not soak then blot with a pad of kitchen roll

I swear by Oxyclean - the original for any carpet stains. Nothing has been too much for it yet.

haha, ive got an "artist" in my house who does similar things.
for the paintwork try a magic sponge (JML do them), you should be able to find them with cleaning products in the supermarket

Many thanks for your answers. Will give them all a try. Redcrx, my mum has already given me the magic sponge. I think it has worked a wee bit but it has crumbled - must be scrubbing too hard with it lol.
