my central heating boiler is 1 year old gone january, when u run the shower the water starts of nice nd hot then goes really cold, same happens when u run a bath, if you turn the taps of and wait then back on it gets hot again, it happens with bath and shower
the boiler is a ferolli

Doesn't sound like anything you could deal with yourself Blondie............ get hold of a friendly heating engineer..........
Could be one of a number of things :o(

I have a combi boiler and the only time you get lots of good hot water is when the heating is on

I wish I could put your mind at rest Blondie, but it might be a simple thermostat, or a cut-out of some kind, or, perhaps the circuit board. They do tend to be quite expensive.
No point in worrying until you have a proper diagnosis :o)))

we have just had the same thing fixed - ours turned out to be the rate of flow - the plumber put a restrictor onto the taps and shower and it is hot all the time now - not an expensive job.

if it was an older ferroli then without a doubt it would have been a faulty thermister as they are prone to it, nice cheap fix, around �50 for the part and repair.
ive not come across the latest ferrolis yet so i do not know if they use the same thermisters and suffer the same problems to be honest.
the other causes could be a faulty diverter valve (older ferrolis dont use a diverter valve, not sure about the new ones) or a blocked secondary heat exchanger (would be surprised on a newish boiler unless you live in a very hard water area or your installer didn't flush the system properly)

you need a heating engineer to sort it
