I don't want to pay a fortune for somebody to remove it. It's too big for me to remove. Chemicals from DIY shops are too expensive. Can't I soak the stump with heavily salted water?

Bore a few holes in the top of the stump as large and as deep as you can. Fill the holes with neat "Jeyes Fluid" (cost about 3.50).
make a grid of deep grooves in the top surface of the stump before you apply anything - this takes whatever you put on deep into the roots.
Will Jeyes Fluid kill weeds and ivy?
