Removing smell of sick from bedroom

I had a bit too much to drink Friday night and was sick all over my bedroom carpet.

Now I can not get the smell of sick out of the bedroom. I have tried cleaning the carpet twice, once with 1001 cleaner. I have also put a Neutradol air freshner in the room to try and neutralise the smell.

Neither of these have worked, so any ideas how to get rid of the smell??

dump the carpet--it will be saturated with the odour--u could try lifting it since the smell will have gone thru to the underlay and u won't get rid of that by 1001 cleaning--especially if it is felt underlay--it will need to be cleaned as well--having lifted them, cleaned them and the floor itself, hang the carpet and underlay outside for a few days and all that might work--keep a bucket by the bed in future--cheers
removing the carpet is the only way out. clorox is the only thing i can think of that will remove vomit odours. but, then the carpet will be ruined.

or you could have a professional carpet cleaner come in and steam-clean the carpet. a couple times. the scent might be rid of then.

i had a similar experience with dogs urine. the carpet cleaners came in several before the scent went away.
open your window??

Be patronising and unhelpful? Why do people like you bother coming on here?

Clairey - just wanted to say you can hire a powerful carpet cleaner machine from most tool hire places - I got one for 30 (for a day) after my mum's friend threw up on my bedroom carpet. It got rid of the smell after one pass!

Good luck x

Thanx guys. I rent the house so getting rid of the carpet would be the last resort.

I think my mother in law has got a steam cleaner so might try that on it.

I agree, deffo have a bucket by the bed next time, or easier still stay off the wine!!
I agree with beanisq - a professional carpet cleaner will do the job.

I had a similar problem a few years ago, when one of my son's mates threw up on his bedroom carpet - I did clean it by hand - then lifted the carpet to let it dry underneath - the smell did eventually go..

You need a pet shop!

Hi go into the pet shop as Buenchico says they sell a product that will nine times out of ten work. A friend of mine used it when her son had too much drink and it worked a treat. If I remember correctly it cost around the 9 mark. Worth a try, cheaper than new carpet.
