Only do this job if your confident and that the shops for spare parts are open. Turn off the power supply at the fuse box and remove the fuse.  Turn off the mains water supply. Below the hot water tank the is a drain flow attach a garden hose and release about two buckets worth. Be carefull the water might be hot. Close the tap at the valve. Take the wires off the immersion heater might also be be easy  to take the wires off the switch. The wire cable must be speical heat cable and useing the special immersion spanner bought at the plummers dept store undo the old heater away it may be long so if you have shelves they would have to come away. Take it fully away limescale may be on the element so be carefull it does fall into the tank. Replace with new one remembering too set the temperture right adjust with small screw driver. Reconnect the wires correctly. Refit the immersion heater with new washer.  Light hand tight its only copper tank. Reconnect wires to switch. Turn on water supply. Check for leaks dont forget the bottom. Run the taps to expare air in the pipes.  Replace fuse and turn on power on fuse box.
