Leaking electric shower. what can it be?
5 Answers
I have an electric shower that when the shower is in use there are 3 leaks coming from underneath the box thing.
does anyone know if this means I need to get a new one or it can be fixed. Is it an electrician who fits these or a plumber?
Many thanks

I'd say you need a plumber to see what the problem is first, seeing as your leak is water. If it needs replacing then really a plumber is also your best bet as the water connection to the new shower could well need moving or adapting. Surprisingly, plumbers are taught a little about "wires" at college (for showers, central heating etc.) - us poor electricians are taught NOTHING about "pipes"!!
Just a simple check for you before you call a plumber... remove the shower spray head from its support (ie take down the sprayer, like you would if you were rinsing the bath or cubicle out) and see if you still get a leak around the *box thing*... it could be something as simple as your shower head needs cleaning and is a bit clogged up with limescale, so it spraying water out at funny angles onto the box.. which drips down on the surface and appears to be a leak. In other words, you may not really have a leak but what you are seeing is just water from the spray head.
Could be as Clydeerani says. There is a connection identical to the one on the flexible hose to shower rose at the other end, inside "the box thing".They can work loose with movement under normal use.Isolate mains remove cover and tighten finger tight then a tweek with a grips(dont over tighten) if loose.Replace cover before turning electric back on and testing.
we don't have an electric shower but we have a box with mixer handles on the wall the pipe for the shower head comes out of the bottom of this box. We find that often the nuts and washers for this pipe becomes loose under the box and then water leaks out it looks bad but you just have to retighten the nuts etc. I think they loosen alot when the showerhead is taken out of the wall holder alot the hose whilest being used it twisted alot and in turn is unscrewing at the box.
