Homewatch schemes

Are any of you involved in one? Had a leaflet through the door regards a meeting to get involved. Our area has had some problems lately including last night. Thinking of getting some neighbours together.

i am a neighbourhood watch scheme co-ordinator here
you put as much into it as you want-but i can say it is worth it-we have had good results here- and it isnt as if you are grassing -you are only trying to make your neighbourhood a better place- you cannot be faulted for that
i would recommend it- you also get to meet others in the area you may not have known before(over here everyone knows everyone anyways)

Thanks beejay! It seems theres a house next door but one who's kids are attracting others from elsewhere & we've started having a few problems. The parents apparently are out drinking and the son is left unsupervised with these friends. Last night there was a small group that ended up fighting & a bottle was thrown over our garden & smashed, could have hit the window!

could also report them to their landlords
citizen advice bureaus are useful for advice too

Why don't you invite your local community plod along to your meeting? He/she may have helpful advice and it won't do any harm for him/her to note your concerns.

hi mrs o- here the schemes are set up and overseen by the police and they would be involved anyway

we've had a leaflet through the door inviting anyone interested in setting one of these schemes up. I was talking about this to my neighbour last night who had also come out after the disturbance last night & reckons we should all go for it! x
