How do I find out the make, model and age of the back boiler in the house I have just moved into? It is behind my gas fire and the previous owners left me no information.

remove fire front you should find a information plate fixed to the boiler unit, an approx age can be got by ringing the boiler manufacturer and quoteing the gas council number found on the information plate

In order to find out the information you need, the fire front need's to be removed. There will be a data badge attached to the boiler that will give you the make and model and other specification's about the appliance. The only thing you won't get is a "date of birth". But there is still one problem! You need to contract a "Corgi" registered installer to isolate the gas supply and remove the fire safely in order to obtain this info. Once you have this info you can contact the manufacture and request a manual free of charge.
