I am considering treating myself to a whirlpool or airpool (or jacuzzi)bath and wondered if anyone had experience of these. My sister has one and she says the Jets are too hard to keep clean, and cause leaks etc. If you have one, let me know how good/bad they are to help me decide please.
It's like anything else - if you buy a cheap one there is every possibility that it isn't designed well, it will leak. This is because the water pressure under the surface is not considerable and there are lots of places for it to leak from!
Also if you live in a hard water area (south and east England), there is likelihood of scale built up, so jets will get blocked.
Don't know enough to recommend a good make.
I have had a bathstore whirlpool bath for approx 20 months. No leaks (my plumbers were superb and we currently have the panel off).
Yes there's noise but it has a large pump fitted (a subject I know a little about). And you are going to be sitting in relative quiet with your head fairly near it noise wise! It's a bit like moaning about vacuum cleaner noise I think.
My problem is the cleaning. Not so much the nozzles etc. In fact I've cleaned the bath this morning. I use a toothbrush to go into the fiddly bits - 2 mins over normal bath cleaning. But every few months you have to fill the bath and add a special cleaner, some use Milton sterilising solution, and run the pump to thoroughly clean out all the pipes.
This chore is long due for me and because I fear what bacteria and dirt has been allowed free reign in the pipes I wont use the whirlie feature til I've done that.
And when I do use it I love it! Also, I know you are not supposed to use bubbles. But I have used the tiniest amount and you get a movie star bubble bath. Naughty but nice....
