Decorating a hallway

I've recently uncovered original black & white Victorian tiles in my hallway between the front and inner doors, which are gorgeous (previously covered by stick on vinyl tiles!!!). However, the walls dont do them justice - they are tiled half way up in a sort of biege colour and the top is tounge and grove and stained a teak colour - looks awful. Please can anyone make any suggestions to make walls look better - without too much cost or mess. Many thanks.

Would it be possible to put a textured wallpaper over the top of the tiles & paint the tongue & groove white?
Have you thought of putting lincrusta wallpaper where the tiles are? It might cost you a few bob though.
