Depending on your oven type, you could try those stainless steel scrubs, they are very effective. This sort of thing.

For the shelves you need Oven Pride......easy and very effective
For the oven my cleaning lady uses Mr Muscle.....spray on...leave for an hour then wipe off....

sorry...........he's also delusional.....the Editor is aware of his difficulties and makes allowances accordingly...
mr muscle is good but its takes your breath away its very strong.

i used to use (not any more because i`ve got a rubbish cooker at the moment) JML Handheld Steam Cleaner gets the job done in half the time..

soak the selves in bicarbonate of soda or washing powder and as some one else suggest use a wire scourer...
I use Oven Mate available from Lakeland

oven mate £ 8.00 marvellous stuff !

I agree with Scotman, the Oven Mate from Lakeland, I've probably tried all the others but this stuff is excellent. It is a gel that you brush on, it doesn't have a 'take your breath away' smell and is very easy to use.

oven pride about £4 in morrisons, cheaper in B& M if u have 1
One small point about Oven Mate(and anything involving Sodium or Potassium Hydroxide). You need to keep them away from anything aluminium as it will corrode badly.
