I have to make a replacement bath for a frost damaged birdbath. Is there a cement mix recipe which will retain water and give strength if there is frost conditions. Any suggestions?

The typical mix would be 4.2.1 ie 4 of sand 2 of cement & 1 of aggregate. The old trick of adding a dash or two of washing up liquid will aid consistency and waterproofing. You could also coat the finished article with silicone. Or....use the PMR cement but more expensive. Regards.

Adding a generous splodge of PVA to the mix will provide improved waterproofing.
