My taps have been completely limescaled for over a year now. I have used some products which manage to remove some the green and soapscums for a week or so but they just seem to form again like a bad memory! Is there any way in which I could make them look like new for a period of 6 months at a time at least as it is quite tedious to keep cleaning them every week?

Spray taps with vinegar leave for about 15 mins then use an old toothbrush to scrub them up, or if it's bad wrap a vinegar soaked cloth around them for a few hours then scrub them.
Try denim....saw it once on  a program...something about the texture of denim that makes it fab for cleaning taps and other shiney stuff int he bathroom.
