Hello there,
Well,as regards prices at Covent Garden.
They now go from £8.00(standing) up to (are you ready for this?)~
£204 for the best seats in the Stalls and the Grand Tier (equivalent to the Dress Circle in a theatre).
Of course most of the cheap seats go very quickly, the only way to ensure you get such seats is to be on the mailing list,or to become a "Friend of Covent Garden"(which requires annual membership).
The "Friends" get first whack at the seats, followed by persons on the Mailing LIst.
However, neither get any seat price reductions.
This is then followed by the General Public booking.
The Don Carlos I saw was (If I remember) June 2008.
Now I am going to annoy/sicken you.LOL
As a previous staff member of Covent Garden,I can get free seats from colleagues or(if there are any) the box office.
Sorry!

Thanks very much for all the info. I remember looking up prices for Rolando some time ago and it was four hundred pounds odd, so I'm not shocked. (I think those tickets were in Vienna though). I'm glad you're lucky, it doesn't annoy me :-).
Thanks again, for taking the time to answer.

The Staatsoper(State Opera) in Vienna,is much like the Royal Opera House for prices, except that being a theatre with more seats, more are available, and some are quite reasonable(from the the mid price that is).
However,Vienna has something that few other opera houses in the world have.
It has a quite large standing area at the back of the stalls.
This area known as the Stehplätze, and has very good views of the stage (unlike Covent Garden, where the standing is at the very top of the theatre,or the back of the Stalls Circle with bad view).
The Stehplätze in Vienna costs the grand sum of 4 euros! but you do have to queue on the day of the performance from lunch time to get a ticket, but for that price it's worth it!
Thanks for the information. It all sounds very exciting.
