Hiya, I'm decorating my bedroom soon but really need some tips!
I really like all the brown soft furnishings that are coming into fashion now (faux furs etc.) and I want to paint my room in like a chocolate brown colour. But I read that to compliment your decoration, you should "go with the mood of the room". For example if you have a dark room, you shouldn't paint it in a light colour to brighten it up; it will look better if you just paint it in a darker shade of your chosen colour, and use good lighting instead.
So now to the point. I have quite a small room but loads of light comes in through the window, so in the daytime it's really bright.
I don't want to paint my room in a lighter shade of brown because I don't imagine it will give the effect that I want, (and also my Mom just painted her living room in light brown and I don't like it. Sorry Mom).
Should I paint it dark brown or change my colour scheme?!
Any proffesional advive appriciated, but also personal opinions.
Thanks. Cinderella xxx

Best way to decide would be to get a several small tester tins of paint in various tints and shades and paint portions of the wall in your room, then take a week or so to see which one grows on you. Write the name of each paint next to the painted sample so you don't get them mixed up.
If you select a dark tint just remember when you want to change it you will have to blank it out with a white emulsion, or it will show through the next colour.
it might surprise you. we painted our bedroom burgundy kind of colour and it actually looked bigger afterwards!
To go with your brown room you might like this bedding - http://www.kiptime.co.uk/
i have my eye on the chocolate corduroy bedding (i'm planning on redecorating first!).
Thanks tracyh that Dulux site was really helpful. Fun to design a virtual room too! I've ordered some paint swatches from them now so hopefully that'll give me an idea of how the colours will work together.
I've chose a chestnut colour and also a light pink, I think it'll work well in my room, and it'll add a feminine touch to it.
Thanks.
