You can't repair the damage to the laminate. The only answer is to either replace the whole top or to re-laminate it. But first give your OH a belt round the earhole to remind him not to do it again! Second, give him the bill.
Ok... try a solution of baking powder with just a touch of water, to make a paste. Leave it on top of the affected area for a couple of hours, but don't rub in, as it can be quite abrasive as it is. Hopefully this will improve things greatly.
Thanks for the SENSIBLE answers. The gravy had been made with all sorts including cornflower. He had spilt it the night before and left it and it had stuck like glue!!! So NO-KNOWLEDGE the name suits you.
