Chuck's right - they're called 'buffers'. Some are self-adhesive for mounting on a flat part at the top of the leg, others are like a mushroom in shape, made for plugging into a hole in the leg. Some are flat on top, some are domed, and some are slighly cupped to provide some suction on the glass. On the other hand, there's always double-sided sticky pads!
