House not like on plans

A house is getting built next door to me,but looking at the plans online,the finished product is different.The rendering on the side of the house is a different colour and the layout seemed different.What would be the easiest way to find out if the changes are'approved'Asking the builders is out of the question,things have not been too good since we refused to let them 'borrow some elecky' a few months ago.Thanks

We can look at planning applications on-line via our local district council, see if you can too

again (sigh) I'll agree with suzie. My brother is a building inspector for the local council and would be out there 'tout suite' to have a look.

u should still have a view, they cant block it off totally, planning wont agree to that.

There is no 'right to a view'.........
Go to your Local Planning Department and request to see the plans as submitted.
The 'consultation window' which is an opportunity for you to see and plans and object to them has now long since passed.
However, if you believe the building now under construction varies from the 'approved plans', bring it to the attention of the Planning Officer.

Thanks again for everyones answers,I will contact the planning dept cos its the deviation from original plans thats my gripe,I did consult with the PD when I was first aware of the new building,but was informed that 10 or more people( who where primarily informed of building plans)had to object.It was only our house that had the view affected so you can imagine the lack of help we had.

what did the plans originally state would be the render colour?
Most plans are in black and white - and do not indicate the colour of a render... and to be honest - they can paint the house bright purple if they like! Thats their choice...

Sometimes the materials that are ultimately approved are not the same as those shown on the originally submitted plans. Planning permissions usually have a condition that all materials have to be approved prior to construction. The local authority does not have to consult on these details or publish them online. I would call the council and ask them what materials and finishes were actually approved.

If, however, the person building is the son/daughter of a local councillor you could be totally fubarred...
