Gel in soil
4 Answers
Hello
I am finding lumps of gel in my garden pots and am at a loss as to what it might be. Does some compost come with water retention gels in it? Or is it a bulking agent? I don't think it is organic. I would appreciate any light on this, sorry if this is a really obvious dimwitted question, I am not a very experienced gardener!
Thanks

Try suashing one, if it spreads it's gel, if it pops you've got eggs. However if it was present in the compost when you first opened the container bag then it's almost certainly gel. Always read the detail on the bag at time of purchase to be sure.
