Candlemaking

I've several candles in tins where the wicks have burned down to the bottom leaving a large amount of scented wax unused.Can I use anything apart from special wicks to replace the originals(more expense than it's worth,with postage etc)and do I melt the remaining wax in a pan then replace it again in the tin-what's the best method?

I tried with the thin cotton string and cotton 'knitting yarn' both worked plaited really tightly but by the time I'd done enough I could have gone to the craft shop and bought some wicking Another option I have tried is buying cheap long candles from the pound shop melting them and mixing in the good wax and re using the rescued wicks by the way i also found tying a small metal nut to the end makes the wick sit nicely in the bottonm of the candle
