Oil on tarmac.
5 Answers
My car recently had a slow drip oil leak and has caused staining spots to the tarmac of my driveway. Can anyone please give me a remedy for this? I have tried scrubbing with detergent without success.

First, if it's a fresh stain and feels wet to the finger tip, use common kittly litter to absorb as much as possible, Next, Using a stiff, long-handled brush and a solution of trisodium phosphate (TSP) or phosphate-free substitute, scrub the stain. Here, a product called Asphalt King's Oil Spot Stain Remover Degreaser worked well. (Don't use grease/oil remover for concrete... will eat away the asphalt.)
Scrub any remaining spots with full-strength Clorox type household bleach. Wear old clothes, rubber gloves, and safety glasses.
Rinse thoroughly with a hose.

These people have got the right product for removing oil from driveways. I've tried it and it works. I tried alsorts of stuff before like cola, clothes washing liquid and wd40 made it worse. I also discoverd that they are now doing a discount voucher thing if you look on youtube. That's why I put that link in. The link to their shoop is http:// www.ser pro.eu/ ...in-R emoval- Kits.ht ml. You can buy just the liquid if you've already got the other bits and pieces. I found it useful to watch the video before I used it, it was suggested buy the guy on the phone, he was really helpful.
