I have just picked all the heads of the dandelions in the garden, so they dont go to seed and spread. But does this make the plants stronger ?

Hi smurfchops, I asked the same qu last year [http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/Home-and-Gard
en/Gardening/Question779445.html]
we removed the yellow heads and have continued to do so.

Now a year later, we're not as plagued by them as we were. Also just slicing off the green rosette of leaves, without digging up the root leaving the grass looking like a golf course, seems to lead to weaker dandelions regrowing. It's a lot quicker too.
Interestingly, there has been some chat amongst the experts recently about leaving dandelion heads on for a little while, since the bad winter has depleted bees of their stores, so until the full belt of spring flowers is available, apparently dandelions are a good source for them

Don't make me feel guilty about the bees ..
am with Androcles on this one.

OK maybe I will leave a few then ....
Spray them with Verdone - they'll be dead in a day or two and wont reappear. Will kill daisies and clover too.
