Hi, I'm curious to know the rough cost of removals from England to France but in order to get a quote it's quite a lengthy process of form filling. Has anybody used a removal company to move contents from England to France, if so what was the cost? TIA

It will be difficult to get the right answer you need, people use different company's and also it depends on how much furniture etc you have to move. That's why the form filling is necessary so the removal company's can get an idea of the size of van to use, and then price accordingly.
Prices will vary greatly on distance and amount of furniture to move also valuable items. It can also be cheaper if the removal van is carrying furniture etc back from France to England, something which is happening more and more.
As others have said, it will vary hugely and more info would be needed to even guess at a price.

for a start, moving from Dover to Calais (30miles) is going to be pretty cheap, moving from Newcastle to Marseilles (1000+ miles) is going to be pretty pricey!

Thanks for the answers. I sent off for a few quotes. Coccinelle, may I ask, why removal companies are moving furniture back from France to England more often?
Re the moving stuff back, OH is in the haulage business and if they take a load out, they have to bring something back, it's not economic to run empty. Not sure if that is what coccinelle meant though.
Hi! More Brits are moving back to the UK due to the low £ so not getting as many €s in the exchange rate. This applies to people on a pension. With the price of houses lower in UK at the moment they're taking the opportunity to go back. There are also a flow of Brits selling up their holiday homes as they're arriving at pension age and finding the work too much as most have big properties.
