im very calm although a bit annoyed at the minute with our gardener, wrecked our decking bannister, chipped our expensive paving slab (went for £18 a slab) and didn't bother coming back instead sent amateur trainees to correct problems and they only made the decking look like a kid has cut and pasted pieces of wood on it, now just thinking do we still pay him for this or tell him to bugger off until he sorts it out, found him on myhammer.com, but he didnt quote us on the web, he did it when we rang him, so cant get in touch and complain to myhammer and warn others of his unproffesionalism. hubby says we should wait till next week and see what he does for us before we make any decisions as to sacking him completely and not paying him full whack, hes still not layed the turf yet. and hes ruined my garden, also i did end up spending an arm and a leg on materials
suzie when it comes to gardeners, builders, etc. always get a recommendation. if you see a regular gardener in your area, knock on the door and ask the person in the house if they would recommend him - in fact you would be able to see his work from outside. I wouldn't put up with shoddy workmanship and definitely wouldn't pay if they had done damage. And I agree, never use someone without a landline or address that you can see. Good luck.
